Altered Polaroid SX70 Time Zero Images - Art

The original images were made using an old Polaroid SX70 camera. As soon as the photograph was ejected from the camera, I manipulated the surface of the Polaroid print to produce the impressionistic visual affect. Depending upon the ambient temperature, I had from 5 to 20 minutes in which the surface was still soft enough to manipulate. For this gallery, the original Altered Polaroids were scanned into a computer. Once scanned, the original Altered Polaroids were not digitally altered except to enlarge and / or make adjustments necessary in order to reproduce the original Altered Polaroids as accurately as possible. In 2005 Polaroid changed the Polaroid Time Zero film manufacturing process. In doing that, Polaroid took away the ability to alter the images... inadvertently, Polaroid said at the time. While many people complained, in late 2005 Polaroid Corporation completely discontinued the manufacture of Polaroid Time Zero film and ended this art form.
